About Bethany / Janetville / Pontypool

This is a slice of small town life in the southern area of Kawartha Lakes, just a short commute from Durham Region, Peterborough or Toronto.

The former Manvers Township offers a trio of quaint but vibrant villages, including Bethany, Janetville and Pontypool, all located on or near Highway 7A and Highway 35/115.

Farming may be the mainstay here on the edge of the protected Oak Ridges Morain, but there is always plenty of other activities for the whole family.

Thousands of sporting enthusiasts visit the area throughout the year, with premier sking available at Devil's Elbow ski resort on Ski Hill Road near Bethany. Golf courses like Wolf Run and Black Diamond offer top-quality opportunities to enjoy time on the links.

The area is also an environmental marvel, with protected sensitive areas like Windy Ridge Conservation Area, Fleetwood Creek and the Pigeon River Headwaters, which are all managed by Kawartha Conservation.

Windy Ridge, accessed by Mount Horeb Road - southwest of Omemee - offers a breathtaking view of the Fleetwood Creek wetlands, the edge of the Oak Ridges Moraine to the south, a loop trail and picnic shelters.

The southern Kawartha Lakes offers plenty of excellent educational opportunities, with two public schools: Grandview and Rolling Hills, as well as Bethan Hills School, a private facility which attracts dozens of girls from Grade 7 to 12 who wish to combine academics and athletics.
